ADDENDUM TO A UNITARY THEORY
OF BODY AND MIND

by Bernard W. Bail, M.D.

The baby within the womb and the fluids surrounding the baby are all pulsating. Remember how the fluids of the mother are pulsating through the child. In the field there is also the reactive consciousness of the mother, whether it is her pleasant desires or her loving experiences, her joy in carrying the child or her own traumas, her own mixes of consciousness. All of that is mirrored within the child. The mother is providing the nurturing energies. You can see these energies moving through the blood into the child. When the mother experiences trauma or disturbed states of mind, shocking energies, upsets, angers, and frustrations all penetrate that fluid of life. The cells of the child begin absorbing it. This becomes the shocking message to the child attempting to individuate, a message that says, “you are not important.” So the child builds a memory bank within the womb of the mother.

In essence, the child says, “I choose the womb through which I will come—not only for genetic purposes, but as the inheritance of consciousness I will use to grow, to expand, and to discover the shadow of the self and the light of the self, with all its polarities.” All of this is in the infant’s consciousness as its cells develop the imprint of the mother. This gives you an idea as to the struggle of the baby with its imprint in terms of its depth and power and the consequent long period working through this profound and archaic impression.
